19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since March of that year.

The win also means he has won 21 championships at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
